Fishing in and around Drakesbad Guest Ranch
It’s a great day for fishing!

Known for its colorful native rainbow trout, the Warner Valley area of Lassen Volcanic National Park provides very satisfying fly fishing. What these smaller trout lack in size, they make up for in beauty! If catching native rainbows or the ancestors of the planted brook and brown trout (planting stopped back in the 80’s) is your passion, Drakesbad is the place for you.

We recommend fishing the Drakesbad area with a smaller rod (3 or 4 weight at 7.5 to 8.5 feet). Stimulators and Parachute Adams are good dry fly choices. Birds Nest and Prince Nymphs are reliable wet flies. Afternoon hatches of grasshoppers get things jumping!
